Vignettes
Kerry's vignettes are almost exclusively about her high school students, or lovelies: specifically, how they inspire, worry, nurture, frustrate her. Her vignettes give her readers, most of whom have never been to Baltimore, Maryland, let alone inside its public schools, a chance to learn. Empathize. Reexamine. Wonder.
Among other things, Kerry has written about the cries of a girl in need, her concern over a student she never thought would make her worry, and what we learn from what's left unsaid.
The Baltimore Banner publishes one of Kerry's vignettes every month.
